Organic certificate check
Check a supplier’s organic certificate in the official public databases.
Official databases
United States: USDA Organic Integrity Database
USEvery operator certified to the USDA organic standard (NOP), in the US and abroad. Search by name, country or product and see the status and certified products.
European Union: TRACES organic certificates
EUOrganic certificates of operators inside the EU. Search by company name or certificate number. Certificates of operators outside the EU are no longer public here, so check those with the certification body.
Canada: certification bodies under the Canada Organic Regime
CAThe official CFIA list of accredited certification bodies. Each one must publish its certified operators, so find the certifier on the certificate and search its list.
India: National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP)
INThe official NPOP portal by APEDA, with the accredited certification bodies and the operator lists for organic exports from India.
What to compare on the certificate
- The company name and address match the company you trade with.
- The certificate is valid today, and will still be valid on the shipping date.
- Your product is listed, for example “chickpeas” and not only “lentils”.
- The standard fits your market: EU organic for the EU, USDA NOP for the United States, COR for Canada, JAS for Japan.
- The activity fits the deal, such as production, processing or trading.
- The database shows the same status as the paper. If they differ, trust the database and ask the certifier.
- For imports into the EU, each shipment also needs a certificate of inspection (COI) issued in TRACES.
Preguntas
Can Uspica tell me if a certificate is valid?
No. Only the certification body and the official databases can confirm it. This page shows you where to look and what to compare.
Why can’t I find a non-EU supplier in TRACES?
Since 2025 the public TRACES directory no longer shows certificates of operators outside the EU. Ask the supplier for the certificate and check it with the certification body named on it.
What is a certificate of inspection (COI)?
A document for each organic shipment imported into the EU, issued in TRACES by the exporter’s certification body. Without it, the goods cannot be sold as organic in the EU.
